Eagerly anicipating the 2013 chant season. Last year sucked, so I really need my fix!

With this colder weather and more rainfall (conducive to a Pacific NW microclimate), I think chants are going to be out of control this year...hoping so at least.

Wouldn't the colder weather prolong their arrival? I'm hoping we're not waiting until late July / early August. Been keeping an eye on mushroom hunting forums for southern states. No reports yet.

Just read a post on another forum about dime-sized caps recently found in Georgia.

OK. Finally. I went out at lunch today and found a handful. I was not looking to hard though, so there a probably a lot that were missed. The ones found were full grown and had been attacked by bugs. (which is why I wasn't looking very well. HOLY MOSQUITO'S!)
Also found a coral mushroom. I would not eat them, but I just think they look neat.

Anybody having luck with chanterelles lately? If so, what part of the state? Most of the buttons in a spot I checked yesterday were dried and shriveled. Same with trumpets. Mother nature, you're at the top of my shit list. For the THIRD SUMMER IN A ROW!!!!

Finding a few buttons in the north. They're just starting, but everything is 3 weeks behind due to the late spring.
They dry out fast, but it could be a good year once the heat breaks.

I'm finding everything from buttons to adolescent chanterelles in Wausau. Hoping we get some rain. The season should start peaking next week in this area.
