The ones on left , apricot , right yellow foot. I am aware that these are local names, so if anyone would like to share what they call them , clue me in ... I'm here to learn also . Anyway , the chants are popping really good, good luck all !

I didn't find one darn chant and I put on miles Saturday in the rain and then Sunday too. Never found any good oak stands to scout. Drove past tons of private land that looked good though....I'm jealous, marinetteco!

I finally found 2 chants yesterday in Polk County on my way home from work. Not quite the haul I was hoping for, just have to keep looking. On the plus side, on the same mossy knoll near the chants was a half dozen or so small hedgehogs. I picked the 2 biggest ones and left the rest to grow. I've been hankering for a new hedgehog patch ever since my last one got logged off the winter after I found it, 2 summers since that I have looked there I haven't found any. Maybe they are back now, but it's a bit more of a drive for me now so I haven't checked the last couple years.

Ran our to my chant spots. Slim pickn's. About 50 apricot and 50 yellow foot. Still no goldens. These shrooms seem to be on stand-by, not much growth.

I found a couple small patches of golden chants in Polk County yesterday, the other day the ones I found were apricots, by the way. I've been checking every couple days so hopefully they're just starting here.

Took my brother picking today and did fairly well. Apricot chants are still flushing with lots of real small ones popping, but in dire need of rain.We then went to my yellow foot spot and picked some real big shrooms. Biggest yellow foot I have ever picked. He was kinda anxious in get out of that swamp and pick some goldens, so I reluctantly left. We hardly scratched the surface of that spot, but I'll go back this weekend. Waste of time looking for goldens... one. We need rain up here in Marinette county! As a side more, you all have posted some super recipes! Good picking all!

Last Saturday I found about 3 dozen chanterelles while out on a hike in the North Kettles, mixed hardwood area. Tasted great in scrambled eggs! Also found a number of boletes, but I am not comfortable enough with them to eat as yet. One was approaching soccer ball size. Hoping the rain the last couple days bring more, hiking again tonight.
