Kentuckyred - No, if you're careful, there is really nothing you can get a giant puffball confused with. They should have no stem, be softball size or bigger, have a smooth white exterior and the interior should be just a white mass.
There are some poisonous mushrooms that will look like a puffball before the cap opens up, but they will be smaller than softball size and you will be able to see distinguishable mushroom parts when you slice them open.

Thank you Cisco, what about this one pictured here? I found these this morning. They're smaller than softball but they weren't there yesterday when I looked so I'm sure they would have gotten bigger. It rained last night so there are mushrooms popping up all over. This one looks more like a purple spored puffball. It's brown outside but white inside with no stem parts or anything like that.

Don't eat it. It is a puffball, but from the photo, I can't tell what kind. There are toxic puffballs.
It's impossible to tell from the photo, what species it is, but you want to stay safe. The giant puffball (Langermannia gigantea) is safe and fairly easy to ID. Given that this one is small and either started brown or turned brown in less than a day indicates that it is probably a different species.
