Hi, followed the forum for a few weeks, figured it was time to join. Disappointing morel year for me this year, not giving up yet though. Curious if anyone else is in the spring valley wi area to some shrooming. I would be glad to share my 36 acres. I am trying to expand my shroom knowledge beyond morels and puff balls. happy hunting.

Kato, that would be fun. I hear there are oysters in the area also. Not sure if they are still in season. Are you in the spring valley area?

Hi, I am in the fox valley but I love shrooming a lot and like to check out new places. I thought if our schedules meshed sometime this summer and or fall we could hook up. As far as oysters, they fruit most frequently in spring and fall, however, I have found them from spring through fall. You need to get them while they are young or they will have little larvae boring through them. Also, I personally don't pick the ones off poplar. You can find chicken of the woods fruiting now, too. I find them in spring and fall, but more so in fall. The cincinnatus species, which appear terrestrial, but grow off the roots of oak trees, are a beautiful specimen and are exceptionally tasty. Anyway, that's all I got for now. Have a good one.

Hi all, Just wanted to update this post as Im getting the itch to wander. If anyone is in the spring valley area (St Croix/Pierce county) and would like to do some shrooming let me know. I am hoping to expand my knowledge and get into some different varietes. I did update for email notifications that weren't turned on last year if you're still out there Kato. I have 36 acres, and am always up for new territory as well.
