Great to see all the best members from the Wisconsin Morel site on here. I would like to use this chance to introduce myself. I am a student at UW- Stevens Point. I am almost done with my fisheries major there. I am a strong enthusiast of mycology and enjoy searching the woods with my new books. For most mushrooms I am fairly new into looking for them, but some species I have been looking for since I was little. I guess I'll quit blabbering for now.
Good luck and happy hunting!!

Favorite wild mushrooms to eat ranked in order: What is your list??? 1.Morel 2.Black Trumpet 3. King Bolete 3. Bi-color or butter bolete 4. Honey Mushroom 5. Lobster 6. Hedgehog (pretty good but I get sick of them) 7. Chicken of the Woods (decent) 8. Oyster (ok) 9. Hen of the woods (only in small quantities and not my fav) 10. Chanterelles (don't really like that much - getting to the bottom of the barrell here)

hello fellow mycophiles! I met some of you I think this summer at the chanterelle foray (which was a really great time). I am a very new member to the WI myco society..even though i have been hunting certain mushrooms for years (I come from a Slovak family that is very into mushrooms), it is only in the last 2 or 3 I have been working at expanding my horizons, as we only ever hunted fall mushrooms -mainly honeys, but also chickens, and hens. I learned most of my summer edibles this year, even though I have yet to find a king bolete...there's always next year...I have an awful lot to learn yet, and have greatly enjoyed this board (as well as the last before it got weird over there) and figured it was high time I stop lurking and join in on the fun here. You all are chock full of excellent mushroom knowledge-my kind of people! I live east of Stevens Point and play bluegrass music in a local band called Sloppy Joe. oh, and I love to fish too....hope to run into some of you in the woods someday!

Hi Ya STUFFA! I remember meeting you at the northwoods foray...I'm Anne. We camped at the same campground and went on the same forays on Saturday as well. You're Al's friend right? It's very cool that you joined the board! It's good to see more shroomers join this awesome forum. I'm not sure at this point if I'll actually make it to Saturday's foray because I'm going have been away from home Thursday night to Friday night. My hubby is probably not going to be very happy if I miss out on the "clean the garage" event we have scheduled for Saturday. I guess we'll play it by ear. I LOVE Blue Grass...is your band on Facebook? I'll have to "like" ya and bring the kids to a show.

yup that's me, (Stef) and I remember meeting you too Anne! That was a great weekend-I learned A LOT! I think Al is coming up to our place this weekend so he will be at this foray too if it all works out... I don't have the band on FB ...I am resisting. We have a good old fashioned website though at www.slopgrass.com though ....hope to see you in the woods again before too long! I loved looking at your photos this summer (yes, I was lurking ! ) and you really helped the black trumpet and I become good friends this summer....so thanks for that a bunch!

Hey ya Chica, did you find many BTs this year? Were they in the SP area? About FB...oh yeah, I don't blame you for resisting. I remember when I "signed up" it was actually an error and I was like "what the hell? Great, now I'm part of the happy happy social club...yippy" but now I do appreciate being able to talk to relatives that live on both coasts and in Germany as well. Every now and again I delete people I don't really correspond with so I don't have hundreds of people as "friends" when I don't even talk to them & vice versa. Just keep a realistic group of friends for yourself and don't read too much in to what people write to you because words can be misinterpreted and mean one thing to you but it's not what the writer had meant. In other words, it could accidentally cause hostility if you're not careful. It's mostly useful. Maybe I'll see ya Saturday. Where is the foray and at what time?

With the exception of a fall kings, I think we're done for the year in the northwoods. Well, theres always chaga. Patrick! Don't despair! Have you ever found yellowfoot/bog chants? Joe has picked them while chipping ice off them! They are very hardy and grow all through the frost season. You need to find a SPRUCE sphagnum moss, swamp and then keep walking around and looking under the ferns until you find them! When you find them you'll likely find thousands! I've already found them this year so I know they are out there. Man are those fun to find! Let me know if you find some!! Post pics!

Oh and don't forget the blewits. Has anyone seen blewits yet? I saw some on the IL chatboard so I guess they are here. I have yet to find those.
