I plan on going back to the spot that I found last weekend and loading up. Can anyone make suggestions on preserving chants? I think I would prefer drying them.

Last year I sliced mine up, put them in the dehydrator, then stuffed the dried ones into freezer bags and stuck them in the freezer. When we wanted to use them, just rehydrate them in a cup of wine. They come back slightly chewy, but definitely tasty.
