Some people think of spending the day inside when it rains, but not me! Although I end up soaked and sometimes might come down with a cold, it's all worth it. Every year when we get those first good rainy days around the end of summer/early fall I'm out and about in the forests. Why? So I can harvest the fresh Honey buttons that pop up all over. This last year I found the mother load and the picture below was only 1 of well over a dozen trees that were ringed in bumper crops of honey mushrooms. I left the ones that were covered with dirt from just popping up to be washed clean by the overnight showers. I harvested over 20 pounds in the first day! Hunting for mushrooms in the rain or just after is always fruitful!

You can find that many Blitz, just go to your favorite oak forest and look for the stumps or dead trees. It's really cool because if you find a group like that, you'll find them all over the ground too at some point but most people don't see them because of the leaf cover. But they're there!

I have seen a few that have been just a quarter or so of that, but I only got out for a little bit last fall, but the leaves fell to soon for me and didn't find much after that.
