Hi Everybody! I tried to do a google search for this forum yesterday but it is NOT easily found that way so...if we can all google these exact words: wisconsin-morels.proboards.com By doing this we will help this board come up more easily when people do a search on morels, mushrooms, etc. I'm pretty sure this is how it works but if I got it wrong, please someone post the words we need to google for this to easily come up on a search. Basically, we need to do it everyday as often as possible to help this board out! Thanks! PS. Def Dan - Check your mail on this forum (see top of page)

Thanks earthmom!
It also helps if other websites link to this one. I don't know what other sites would link here, but if anyone know of some feel free to do it.

I just linked every other morel forum I could think of!
Also, here is something to add to the site to vote it up on Google
<!-- Place this tag in your head or just before your close body tag --> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js"></script>
<!-- Place this tag where you want the +1 button to render --> <g:plusone></g:plusone>

NICE! I see you got the +1 tags up, Dan. Good job! Now, we need to remind people to click that thing. Can you do site-wide bulletins, or mass-message users?

I can do some sort of an annoucement, although I hope that I don't need to. I would like to reserve that for special instances. I don't really want to get into the habit of flooding peoples email with stuff from this site. Although, now I don't see the +1? ? Mayce it is just because I am on a work computer. I don't know if they would have something like that blocked.....Just checked my phone and it's not showing up there either....hmmmmm....

It shows up for me. Although, I had to click it again. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way. I thought you could only +1 something once.
Did you sign up for the webmaster tools? That might help you get the site to show up on Google, and also allow you to track site statistics and drive up visits.

I did sign up for the webmaster tools. There is a problem with it though. I don't have access to this server other than just making modifications to this forum. So I can't upload the google verification page. I am going to contact the proboards support to see how they handle this. There must be some work around since I see plenty of other proboards when I do a search for this forum.

The site has been coming up on Google and Bing for me, when I search for "wisconsin morels". However, it is buried on Bing, and down from page 2 to 3 on Google. When you add the term "proboards" however, it is right at the top.
I don't see why this site shouldn't be higher up on the list of results. It gets way more activity than the "other site". We should all Google the terms "wisconsin morels" and find the link to click-thru when we visit this site. It should help bump us back up. It's what I've been trying to do, as opposed to using my bookmark.

I have been telling folk to google search "proboards + wisconsin + morels" since day one... its the only way you can get to it quickly. one way to help is to google search it and hit the +1 on the side of each link that comes up related to this site.

If you search for proboards in addition to those other terms, it won't work as well for visibility because that's too specific. There will be different pages for results. And yes, please +1.

Exactly. And, I assume that is page one. My point is, who is going to search for "proboards"? Most people would search primarily for "morels" or "mushrooms", and geographically would add their location to the query. In this case, it would be "wisconsin". If you search only for "wisconsin+morels" this site is regularly on page 2, or sometimes 3. That is the issue. No need for a moot screen capture. I'm sure this is the only forum of such a specific subject on ProBoards.
If you leave off "proboards" from the query and find the link to click-thru, it will help return a higher ranking when searching for more narrower terms, as most people would enter. This would apply to any other subject. If you added "proboards" to the query, or more specifically "site:proboards.com", this host would always return the top results. Adding this term to the search is only detracting from overall page-rank visibility, as opposed to sites which only use "wisconsin" or "morels" in their title or URL. Which is why, at the moment, the morels.com site consistently ranks above us.

Sorry, I misunderstood your previous post... I thought you were saying that it did not show up with those three words.
As for people searching with the word proboard it works for word of mouth, but as more hits have occurred on the other boards (due to this one being new) it will be a while before this one shows up on page 1.
