Hi All! I haven't been on in a while but my health is not so good...maybe lymes, I'll find out tomorrow. All my joints, literally ALL of them are stiff and swollen and painful. I haven't been able to hike far either which is completely NOT like me so heck if I know what's going on.
Anyway, I had this thought...I've got all these old morels and the wash water saved up and I've also got a bunch of elm tree seeds collected. I thought maybe if I plant these seeds in a big bucket of soil collected from the yard, water them with morels wash water, possible I can transplant them next year into the yard and just sort of watch them. Maybe even...sacrifice a tree at some point to see if a morel or two pop? Has anyone done this or have any thoughts?

Earthmom- couldn't hurt to try! I have been planting a quite a few trees the last several years and the thought has occurred to me I should be planting elms.... You likely will not have to sacrifice any- they seem to have that dying thing down. Be well.

Planting trees is always a good thing. Unlike lymes which is a bad thing. I hope you don't have that one. A bad side effect (I think pointed out by moderator D2) is no beer. That's a bad thing too.

Sounds like a great idea! Nice trees overall, chance or morels in the far future too... I would do it if I had my own place right now.

Awww, that sucks. I was thinking of getting ahold of you this week to go out.... I hope you make it through the aches and pains. Last year I found a single morel growing in my yard next to an elm sapling. definately would be worth a try.
