Any morels left

im new to this. So please bear with me. Is the season over for Morels in southern Wisconsin? Thanks.

Come on, someone has to have a reply. Any help here? I ate my first morels last year and I want to find some on my own. People around my neck of the woods wont give any info. so I thought I would ask here. Please help a newbee.

I think that you haven't gotten a reply because the southerners seem to have stopped checking in on the board. That implies that yes, the season is over in southern WI. You may be able to find some stragglers on north facing slopes.

This is only my guess as I rarely hunt morels and live in the north.

Sorry GTXS, didn't see the post. I am in the Madison area and would say the season is over. Unless you have private land to hunt. Any public land has pretty much been cleaned out. I have gone out a few times in the past couple of weeks and have not found a thing.

Cisco is right though. If you feel like getting out in the woods for a walk, might as well check the north slopes. Maybe with the warm weather we are having going to have they might start coming up there if they haven't already.

Right now you should be able to find oyster mushrooms. There are probably others out there right now, but I'm not that familiar with all of them.

In a couple of months chanterelle season will start. I love morels, but I think I like chant's even more.
