No life to the woods right now. I didn't see a single mushroom, although I was pretty much just looking for the color orange/yellow. Hope this years chant season isn't messed up by the lack of rain like last years.
The only thing I really noticed when I was out there was that the raspberries are just about ripe, which is funny because the ones in my backyard aren't any where close.

I did a quick look at a couple of my early chanterelle spots this morning. Good rains and a little heat so far, but no chanterelles yet.

More rain is needed. They got rain in the North Kettle, so it may happen there first and with temps in the 90s for most of the week. It's time for chants!

I'm about to start going out to some of the patches and dumping 5 gallon buckets of water on them.

Now that this heat has broken, I am considering going outside again. Do I even bother? Any reports from the Madison area? Unfortunately, I don't really have the time to travel north where they are actually getting rain.

Not much growing in the far north. I covered a lot of ground on Sat and Sun and found less than 1/2 lb of chanterelles. They were in 2 spots with only partial shade. We haven't had much rain in the past 10 days so things are starting to get dry. But, back in the woods its moist yet, but virtually no mushrooms growing. Still a little early for this area.
