I would, personally, like to see some sections on this board about other mushrooms... that way if I want to read only posts about black trumpets I can go there... instead of wading through the general boards.
That being said a Misc. Foraging section would be great too... somewhere for ppl like me (who like mushrooms but don't LOVE mushrooms) can feel at home posting about other wild foods.

To expand on the sightings map idea, how about sightings of other mushrooms as well! Like, chanterelles could be a yellow icon, BTs could be black, king boletes could be brown, hens gray...you get the idea. But, on the other hand, maybe it'd be tedious considering they seem to pop all at once for the most part. For example, Patrick in Wausau had chant buttons that had come up before the hilly Lodi area...thoughts?

The top of the site needs a name, where it just says "Forum".
Also, maybe create a sub-forum for website announcements and feedback.

Keep it coming, I will add things as I figure out how to do them. I set the forum name to Wisconsin Morels for now, but if anyone has a great name they would like to share, pleas do!

Hi Dan! I made a thread for lobster mushrooms but I think it could probably use it's own subject line. Also, I was wondering if we could have an area for Wisconsin Mycological Society foray dates and info. I wouldn't be able to give out foray locations but I believe that info is on the WMS website. I'm going to look in to starting a Madison Chapter of the WMS as well so I could use help in recruiting members in the area so this forum should help but for now just a general WMS info area would be great! Thanks Dan!

Thanks Dan! Repeat after me: "mek a lek a hi mekka hiney ho" Your wish is granted. I will take care of it when I get home tonight. Also, I think the calander link at the top of the page could be utilized for WMS foray dates. Not sure exactly how the calander works, so I will have to look into it. I signed up to be part of the beta program for the next proboards version, so hopefully it has more functions that we can use.

How about a "what's this" thread to help us noobs with IDing. I seriously have no clue what I'm doing out there (aside from getting lost).

How about a section for 'Unknowns' for those of us who like to share pics while in the process of figuring them out!

A Forecast or Hunting Conditions sub-forum would be cool. We could post and track local weather forecasts and data, and also keep each other up to date on things like insect populations and whatnot. It always helps to know when/where/how much it rained, and how bad the mosquitoes/ticks are.

The 'False-morels' forum should be merged into 'Morels'. There should also be sub-forums for Chicken and Hen-of-the-Woods. Just a thought.
