I made it through the entire morel season without having a single tick dig in to me.
My family and I went camping over the fathers day weekend and I let my guard down. A week after fathers day I began feeling ill. I spent 2 days with a fever of 103F and a pounding headache. I finally decided to go to the doctor and they tested me for Lyme's. Fortunately, I tested negative for Lyme. I did, however, test positive for anaplasmosis, which is another tick borne disease. It took me a whole week to shake that bug. Never did find the tick that gave it to me. From what I understand, anaplasmosis is essentially the same thing as Lyme's disease, only caused by a different bacteria. I really hope that it does not have the same long term effects like Lyme's does.......

One thing I learned is to never let your guard down. Ticks were extremely bad this year in South Eastern Wisconsin... I coated myself thick in deep woods off max deet... yeah I know, bad for me, but what isn't in this day and age... but it didn't matter... it helped keep the skeeters at bay, but it didn't stop the ticks... pulled 6 off my pants while in the woods... came home, stripped down, and pulled off another 10 that found their way under my clothing! That was just in one day... all together this year I'd say I've pulled off and terminated at least 100 of the little evil things!
