Since we are posting pictures of kids and morels......I always take a picture of him with his first find of the season. Someday I will put a book together of him over the years. Hopefully his younger brother calms down a little so that I can take them both out next year. I have a feeling that if he found one he would just smash it....

Looks like Trapper made a decent haul anyway, kinda jealous. I found those three black ones, and have been checking that spot every day thinking there would be more, but no. I did find one big yellow near there yesterday. Not sure what is going on this spring, but I will have to go look at my other yellow spots and hopefully I haven't missed the whole season somehow.

Looks like it the season in coming to an end in Sheboygan County. Went to our "late spots" yesterday and found 34 more. One spot yielded 0. A couple of my tried and true spots either didn't produce, or, were found by someone else. This years total was a little disappointing. I did however - find a real nice flush of oysters. After the morels come out of the dehydrator I'll be putting in the oysters. Any tips for dehydrating oysters?

I found 8 good sized yellows on the in-laws' land over the weekend, as well as a bunch of oysters in another spot. I checked around at several other spots where I have found them in the past, as well as some new territory, and there were none to be found. Have to say I'm a little disappointed as well with the total haul this spring. I don't really have any tips for the oysters, I just slice them and throw them into the dehydrator, this time I set it at 130 degrees and let it run till they were crispy. The heat usually gets most of the little white worms to come out before they die, but I'm sure I've probably eaten a few of them.

Gramacroc- same for me in Sheboygan County. Tried and true spots were a major disappointment, too dry I believe. My late spot has yet to produce, but I hold out hope since it never provides before Memorial Day weekend.

Checked my SW Sheboygan County late spot Wednesday- found about 2 dozen small yellows with blackened tips and another dozen big yellows. Looks like I am done until chants start. Seeing tons of pheasant backs this year. Definitely not a good morel year for me, congrats to those who found good numbers.

Well,,, Wed. night we went out for "One. last. time." You know how it is, right? It's hard to call it quits! Found some fresh ones in lower areas that were cooler and damp. Also some big yellows and several that were probably 1 day away from being bad. About 7 were left in the woods to return to the earth as they were way past prime. Brought home 17. EC Rob, thanks for the oyster tips. I now have a large sack of oysters reduced to 2 quart size bags. I was very lucky as there were very few worms. Whenever washing shrooms, I like to put them in the salad spinner to get rid of extra water, then lay them on paper towel in a single layer, roll them up and put them in the fridge overnight. Takes out some moisture and they keep fresh pretty long.
