The kings are coming up in Polk County! I found my first ones yesterday on my way home from work. Found a few other edibles out there too, a couple lobsters, and that log with the bears tooth keeps pumping them out. Found another pile of trumpets for the dehydrator too. Attachments:

Was hoping to score a bonanza like last year in my favorite king spot, but only found a couple that were in good shape. This big one didn't have a worm hole in it! Found a couple others that were pretty well done for. I guess I'll have to check back later to see if any more come up. Attachments:

Yes, and they are quite tasty. Kings are somewhat easy to identify too, so they are a good one to look for in the fall even for beginners. Just make sure you match all the characteristics before you eat any wild mushroom!
