Nice Earthmom. If you dehydrate them, do so outside. They stink! ...but are totally worth the hassle.

Go Earthmom!!
Aaron...the lobsters found near oaks are usually sweet and shellfish tasting when cooked up. The ones in pine forest aren't as flavorful.

Way early for lobsters here, but I did find 2 yesterday. One had been stepped on and was slug eaten, but the other was beautiful (for a lobster).

Got 3.5 lbs of lobsters in Minocqua yesterday. Normally there are close to 10 lbs in that spot. It's definitly a bad year, but it seemed like the area had gotten at least SOME moisture.

Not sure. I don't think I'm going to make it up to my lobster spot this year.

Lobsters are just starting in the north. I've seen just a few.

Started finding lobsters 1 week ago today in northern Sheboygan cty.. Found a cluster of small ones that just don't seem to grow, but then big ones pop up almost overnight! Also found a 4 1/2 lb. sulfer shelf.

I just found 2 lobsters in Polk County, my first ever that weren't completely nasty looking. Is it late summer already?

Wow, lobster and honey mushrooms. Sure is the earliest I've heard of either. I guess I am going to have to spend more time in the woods. Thanks for the heads up!

yeah, it's a weird year. I found another bunch of honeys over the weekend near where I found the other ones. I was pretty surprised when I saw them there, it does seem a bit early.
I haven't ever found any edible lobsters before, I thought they might be chanterelles until I picked one and looked at the bottom. Looking forward to trying them, I didn't get a chance to cook them up yesterday. The only other ones I've ever seen were early October, and they were pretty well bug-eaten.

Sure, glad I could help. I was up camping in Florence County last week and found a bunch of lobsters while out hiking, I had to cut out a bunch of crappy parts, but ended up with a decent amount of edible bits. I've determined they aren't my favorites, but I did fry them up in butter on the camp stove, not too bad, even got the wife and one of the boys to try them. I also found one lone big brown capped scaber stalk that was pretty tasty cooked the same way. Attachments:
