Found two trees with hens today! Harvested about 7 to 8 lbs of super fresh beauties! August 23rd 2017. A new early for me. Left a couple babies growing. This was in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area.

Welcome back Forgy! Great finds, and so early! I had some trouble getting signed on lately, or I would have responded sooner. Really looking forward to the fall hen hunt!

Thank you. I haven't heard the name "Forgy" for a long time now! Good to hear from you. These forums aren't very active anymore. Just thought I would pop in now and again. I am already pretty well stocked on hens. I plan to go hunt them once or twice a week now, as I have some people waiting for some. They're out there!

Last week we went to our favorite hunting area for hens. Did not find many, but did find one that had to be at least 25 pounds. After struggling to get it out of the woods, and I mean struggle! We saw thousands of tiny little white worms jumping up in the air 6 to 8 inches high! Never saw anything like it. We had stopped several times while hauling it out of the woods and never saw any indication there was anything wrong. It was still nice and fresh. Has anyone else ever seen these? Had to leave it behind after all that work. This is also the same area I find black trumpets, and this year there were none. Now with 90 degree heat, any that might be out there won't last long.

Found some hens yesterday in an unlikely spot. My local Pick n Save! Yes, they were in the produce section from California. Cost was 5.99 for 4oz. Kind of takes some of the fun out of it.
