Hope everyone is in good health! As the grass greens up and the birds are chirping, I sit here wondering what this season will bring. My son has been asking for at least a week to check early spots only driving the anxiety of waiting. Here's to all of you and good luck this season!

Welcome new folks, and good to see a post from Trapper again. He and his son do such a good job of enjoying the mushroom season together. I also had a case of spring fever and checked some early spots this week. Only found 1 tiny one maybe an inch tall. Looks like they aren't quite ready yet. I did harvest some ramps, made butter, and have them in the dehydrator now. Good luck everyone, and hope you are all in good health as well.

Had some time and decided to drive south untill conditions looked right. Ended up stopping at three county parks and found a handful at each. Stumbled on a couple bonus sheds to the west of Chicago of all places. Heading to the west this week since our Boundary Waters trip was killed by COVID. Outdoors with the family finding Morels is an equal experience.

Wow, sounds like you had a wildlife adventure! Memories made for a lifetime. Great pictures. I am hoping it is still early, and not that I lost my ability to find mushrooms. Found a handful last week and went out again yesterday. Only found 12. Couple of yellows, and the rest greys. Also found 1 half free, which I believe is an earlier mushroom.

Hey Grammacroc! We shot down to to the WI/IL border yesterday and got skunked. I this this next week or two will bring them on now that we have had rain. The lilacs are barely blooming and we found very early asparagus. Haven't seen any Trout Lilly's yet and the ground foilage is too sparse yet. I'm hoping our season is just about to begin or it will be the worst year I've recorded.

That darn auto fill, right? Anyhow, I do agree it seems early. But, here in our woods the trout lilies have been blooming for over a week. No poison ivy yet, and I do remember that being careful when hunting is a good idea. One year I was not so careful and suffered for about 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting out again. Still great to be out in nature. Due to the virus I am out of work, but grandpa croc is keeping me busy with 1 of his projects. it is nice to be able to hunt during daylight rather than after work and stopping before you want to because it gets dark.

I hope the rest of you had better luck this year than me. Last week we went out and 4 hours of hiking only rewarded us with 7 morels. Yesterday morning we went again. I was hoping that after the heat we had some of the lower cooler areas would be ok. We ended up with only 4. Out of those 4, only 1 was fresh and fully intact. My total for this year is only 36. My worst. Think my season is over and will be looking forward to other summer mushrooms.
