Today I'm trying milk weed pods per AVNGAL's suggestion! I'm pretty excited about it since she described it as similar to melted mozzarella sort of thing...should be interesting! I'll post her recipe regardless of whether I like them or not.

Well results are in and milkweed pods are very good! I did the twenty minute boil and then a saute but I sort of feel that twenty minutes may be too much because they were sort of mushy like overcooked veggies can be. I'll do more research about whether I can boil for less time. I did however, put a pot on top of them so they would stay under the water so maybe that caused them to be over boiled. Only one of three children would try them and she also gave it a big thumbs up! There was just a bit of a bitter edge to them so if you are one of those unlucky people who can't eat broccoli, them you will certainly not like this! Also, I had a varying size of pods from one inch to almost two inch in size. I did not notice a difference in how it tasted much nor did I notice a difference in the consistency/texture of the inside. I'd say, give it try! Look for the milkweeds that are growing in the shade because they may still have little pods. Good luck if you try it and please report back if you have any input about these!
