I'm finding that if I walk into the woods and don't have deerflies and/or mosquitos buzzing around me within 5-10 minutes, there won't be any significant amounts of common edible summer mushrooms (chants, trumpets, boletes, lobsters, hedgehogs). And that's even when the area has had good recent rainfall. Does anybody else notice this correlation?

Less mushrooms for less mosquito bites is a sacrifice I am willing to make. Summer hunting can be a pain, sometimes. Spring and fall are where it's really at. I don't take well to excessive heat and having to trek through vegetation. Ticks scare me and flying insects drive me insane the way they like to get in my face and eyes/nose/ears.
