Well amazingly, I found some honey mushrooms growing on a dead elm stump on Friday. I sent the pics out to Britt with the WMS & Fungi magazine and too thought they were honey. He said that the past couple years he's been getting reports of mushrooms growing outside of their normal fruiting season. Two years ago, the very dry summer of 2009, I found loads of large honey mushrooms growing in August! I wonder if this year will be the same. I'll check my honey spots at the beginning August and report back about that.
