K Fish...what exactly is it going to take to prove I've been finding what you can't since last weekend? Skot, I don't think anyone is questioning your finds. Congratulations! And thanks for the website plug!

I think what some of you may be forgetting is that during that last warm streak temps in the north were actually higher than they were in the south. While it was 80 here it was in the mid 70s in Milwaukee and Waukesha all the way out to Madison. When it was 48 here in Ashland it was 62 just 30 miles south of here. So what if the first finds are not where you assume they are going to be... this is a wonky year weather wise, I passed a lilac that was just beginning to bloom about 35 miles south of Ashland, yet my family in Milwaukee said as of this morning they are still just slightly green.

Skot I deer and turkey hunt just West of Oxford and have a local farmer out that way that always does well. I havent foraged there, do most of my hunting around Madison and Milwaukee, thats where I live... are you finding those in the pines? the land I hunt is sandy loom soil with mostly oak trees...

Yeah it has been cooler by the lake here in MARCH I shouldnt be saying that till June or July.Ex last week I was fishing some local lakes in the county it was about 75 to 80 there and just going back to where I live in Kenosha there was a 10 to 15 degree difference in air temps.I am still having trouble believeing the things I am seeing out there. Forsythisa are pretty much done or in the middle of their bloom doesn't usuall happen til April in Genevea these same bushes have shed bloom and have their leaves popping.I cut my grass on Mar 18, the year before this was my last day ice fishing. So this is a strange year indeed, I dont know when I'll start seeing them here in Kenosha but hopefully the weather patterns will extend it and make it a great year.

I'm not hating skot, i'm congratulating you on your finds, but it just means to me that I want to give it another week now before I start looking at my spots since they are so small yet. My grandparents live just east of you (just west of Montello) and I may hunt around there a few times this year if I get the chance. (btw, all I wanted was a picture to prove the finds, unless I know you are trustworthy from the past and you seem to have proven yourself, no need to get upset over it though)
Hope this season turns out to be a good one!

Went for a little hike today along some trails and saw my first few pheasant back of the year on 1 tree. They were really tiny though, but I've been told they are the best to eat (I'm not a fan at all though).

Skot, no worries, Blitz isn't the kind to harass plus this board was started to get away from all the harassment on that other board where people aren't held accountable for what they write.
Congrats on those awesome finds! It seems like you guys get morels popping really quickly every year! So you find the blacks growing around dieing aspens? That's really good info. I hope to be having any kind if morels sauteed with ramps next weekend. Yum baby!

Soil temps.....who ever said they had 52 degree soil temp, I will have you check it again today....Soil temps vary from location, I just looked at soil temps from NOAA and Wisconsin does NOT have any 50 degree soils yet. Just the facts...I know you want to get out, like I do, but wait a few more weeks.....

Besides that one report from Skot...I have reports from central WI that they are starting to pop. With over 11 days of high 70s to 80s the soil temperature definitely reached above 52 degrees causing some sporadic flushes to occur. We'll see how this week progresses. Obviously it will take a week or two before we start seeing numbers. It will be interesting to see how long this cold streak lasts though.
