Welcome to all the new members. Today a friend of mine sent me a picture of about 36 morels her hubby found in the central part of the state. The time is here for some of you, and hopefully you will be posting finds any day now! Good luck to all.

Trapper, great pics! Thank you for your posts. We had 27 degrees last night. I'm afraid our season might have to start over. The water in my hummingbird feeder froze. Peach tree and cherry trees were in blossom. Certainly couldn't have been good for any tiny morels.

Might just be me and you this year Grammacroc. Anyhow, got out today in SW Wis. Many peak to just past. Ended up with about 8lbs in 6 hours. Left many more that were too far gone which was a big change in a week. Time to start heading north!

Nice finds and nice pics, Trapper! Not many commenting but several watching. Haven't been able to get out yet, but hopefully next week in SW Wisconsin. "Many peak to just past," you say. What county, if I may ask? And are south slopes still good, or is it too late for them? Thanks much.

We were in Crawford to Sauk counties. The south sides seem to be pretty brittle or dried and moldy. Our jump north to the Natural Bridge area prove better crop but left many that were shot. There also. I'll be back in Sheboygan county this week and let you know.

Yea, I was out today on a south facing slope. It was really overgrown and dry. Checking out some birth facing slopes later. Trapperhub, didnt know y I u made it down this far. I thought you mostly hunted up north. Natural bridge is only about 15 min from my house

Hey Mike, I used to but I moved to Plymouth in January to go back to school. You ever want to get together let me know. Even when I lived up north, I'd make at least one run south each year. My oldest son is eight now and doesn't let me leave the woods.

Welcome to the neighborhood Trapper. We are just a little bit northeast of Plymouth. Went out this weekend and was disappointed that so many were already dry. Got the grandkids out to hunt and everyone was able to take some home for a meal. Grand total to date is 223.
Great to hear from some of the rest of you again.

Thanks Grammacroc! I checked around here earlier this week and found 6, one was a shriveled up black, one was a half free and the others were various stages of grays. After two trips to the west this year we have around 14lbs and a total of 414 picked. We have left plenty in the woods that weren't going to make the trip or had gone mushy. My son robbed a beautiful gray off of my neighbor's dying elms in their front yard. Guess that's one way to meet them! 😏. Hope everyone is having a great year so far, ours is the best we've had to date. We are all seeing them when we close our eyes at night!
