I only found one the other day when i checked, and no trumpets. dagnabit. That is one thing i miss about the other site, the location information of the poster. I know not everybody put a city in the box, but it was nice to see where others are posting from, especially cuz it seems most of you are down south, so what you are seeing might not be what we have up north a little farther. (I live near Eau Claire, by the way.) Hey Rob, If you go into your profile settings you can modify your location. As you can see from my nfo on the left, I am from Deforest, WI. Not sure if people don't know that they can add this info or if they are just choosing not to share it.

Picked 6lbs of hedgehogs yesterday. I'd say they're peaking in this area. Black trumpets are also out in abundance!

Got out for a little hoping to find some trumpets... I did but the group I found was all decaying and nasty. Instead, all around these buggers I found tons of hedgehogs. picked about 5lbs in a very short amount of time. now time for a few brewskis and time for the game!

I found my first hedgehogs of the year yesterday. Only about 1/2 lb but in great shape.

Hedgehogs are getting started too. It's been dry so I'm seeing small little flushes, which makes me nervous that the rain will be too late for the Wausau area...

They are really starting to come in. This looks like a great year for central WI. I'm really suprised given the lack of rain. Most of them are in the button phase right now. I'm thinking next week will be peaking in this area.

After looking at the recent precip. total map for the past week in the northwoods, I'm betting the hedgehogs, lobsters and other shrooms are doing very well. I will report what we find this weekend. Excited!

We found at least a couple lbs of hedgehogs this weekend. I'd done excellent with them in a previous year around an old Hemlock stand so we've been targeting other Hemlock stands without much success.
Has anybody else found a lot of Hedgehogs around Hemlocks?? If not what trees and terrain do you find them around?

I found some hedghogs on some downed oak on Labor day near Appleton. They were already too far gone. The other trees around then were maple, and hickory. I didn't notice any hemlock, but wasn't looking for it either. Slightly hilly terrain. They were in a pretty visible area too.

found a couple of hedgehogs near a chanterelle spot. They were of course eaten by bugs just like the chants. Out of about 200 chants I found maybe 20 that were not buggy. Maybe the rain will slow down and that will help.Kenosha county in petrifying springs park.

I found a bunch more yesterday on my way home from work, I went back to that mossy knoll I found the other day, and there were quite a few more, and some are pretty good sized. Hedgehogs are definitely among my favorite wild mushrooms, so I'm pretty happy to have found a decent patch of them again.
