It's going fast here in Central Wi (Wausau area) found the first few greys a week ago today and since then been going out every day that I can and last few days mostly big yellows have been found. Seems to be a pretty good year so far but may not last much longer IMO

Found two pounds in central Wisconsin anything from dried up minis to big fresh prefect yellows. Everything appears to be in higher sun areas like it's just beginning, but some are huge and some are just popping. I have found them as high as Rhinelander for grey and yellows and Minocqua for blacks as of today. Too hard to gauge where the season is at especially with 80° temps all week. Prepared for the worst but hoping for the best. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Attachments:

Sawyer and Washburn counties: Our deep-woods ash tree yellows are ready. This hot weather has pushed them really fast. I have seen only one "baby" in the last two days - all others are mature enough, and some a little past.

Here's some pics of my finds so far. Not sure what is up with this year, it seems it may have gotten too hot too fast? I went back to the spot on my in-laws' land last night where I found 50 large yellows last year, and there was only these 3. (that's a saucer they are on, not a dinner plate like the earlier ones, just for size reference.) I came across a few poisonous false morel (Verpa Bohemicas) yesterday too in a different spot, haven't ever seen them before.

found some this morning that were too far gone, couldn't pick them up as they just fell apart, VERY SAD!! But others were fine so still a go at this point. Had a great picture opportunity but no camera with me, walked up to an ash tree and I spot a lone morel on the other side of the tree so I walk around and bend over to pick the shroom and here is a new born fawn not two feet from the mushroom! Little feller was about the size of a football curled up in a little ball.

Had a similar situation as MikeS this year. Walked up on this gal. She let me take a couple pictures and watched me walk away. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Attachments:

Thanks for all of your posts! I'm a new mushroom hunter as of last year. I'm wondering if I'm looking in the wrong places for the Morels. Two weeks ago I found some on sandy open spaces and have been looking in the woods beneath dying Elms every other day for 2 weeks and have found nothing. Are wooded elms not the place to look around Madison? Thanks!

Went out yesterday for about 7 hours. Checked some of my spots that hadn't produced yet and still nothing! I'd say about 8 tried and true spots did not produce! Seems I had the most luck around apple and ash this year. Came home with another 39 and some were very fragile. Hard to spot since there is so much green growth now. EC Rob - glad to hear you found some oysters. We were just talking about how we didn't find any yet.

Another 2 lbs yesterday in Medford. One of those hills where you spot one, then another, and another. Had to triple check the ground cover even some the bigger ones were hard to spot. Let it rain, I want to think this season had more to offer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Attachments:

Gramacroc- I am glad to hear you say that (sorry to say) because I am finding the exact same thing and have been worried that maybe these spots have gone dead altogether after being reliable for some time. One spot in particular that is on my own land, right behind my house that I can check daily- produced about 250 last year between Memorial Day and June 10 has yielded a total of 4 this year. Maybe this rain will pop some more- but the other growth seems to be farther along now...

So I'm talking with a customer and noticed a couple huge cottonwoods and ash on her yard and I asked if she ever gets mushrooms in her yard. She says, " No, but there is something growing over there. I dont like mushrooms, they taste like rubber bands." Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk Attachments:
