Thanks Dan! It definitely wasn't the slug's last meal. I put it in some wet grass. It'll find another morel soon enough!

SouthEastern Wi here Blitz. I couldn't believe how many there were under these couple trees, ended up leaving many there that were either smaller or old and beaten up.

I'm heading out tomorrow. I am in SE WI right now as well, Washington Co. Gonna hit up my normal spots and I'm SOOO excited right now! That's how it is though. One here and there. Then all of a sudden you find a BUNCH under a few trees cuz someone else hasn't gotten to them yet. I know places on public land that are a pain to get to, but no one else checks them and dang do they produce!!!

Yep Im in Walworth Co. This spot was right off a trail on some public hunting ground aswell. Clearly no one else wanted to go pick in the rain yesterday morning! I've been looking for spots like that, places no one would think about going into but have yet to find a good one yet. Thinking about going out again after work today to see if i can hit a few more spots. I see it says your from stevens point, my sister goes to school up there.

Anybody in the Appleton area? I'm here now, but it's pretty cold. Think the Fox Valley will be good in May?

Well I finally went out yesterday. Found about 2 lbs of nice fresh morels, most of them found under 1 dead elm. Also the spring trinity: morels, asparagus, and ramps. Pics to follow tomorrow.

Hi all, Just found this board a few weeks ago and its nice to see the positive talk. A few pics from yesterday in a new area I was checking out. This was my 2nd time out---first time out went to area that produced last couple years but didn't find any, so not sure if I was beat to the area or if a few more days of sunshine will get them going. Found the false morels on same slope as a yellow, about 50 yds apart. Not sure how common this is as I have been told the false morels are typically earlier.

And here you all get a long Earthmom story! Payne and I hooked up to check a new spot in the rain and OMGosh! You're right Payne, I think it did total around six pounds between the two of us because I weighed what I had and it was over four pounds! I gave a bunch to my brother-in-law, gave some to Payne (we split), gave a bunch to my girls' teachers... Payne and I also went to one of "my" spots and found maybe a pound? Maybe two? Not sure but it's always nice to find them regardless of poundage. Then yesterday I hit the woods literally all day and came home with maybe six pounds. I thought it was eight but in reality I think more like six. That's over ten pounds for me so far this year! Yikes, the best year for me ever (very sad I know but...). The wire basket and pan are the the ones I found with Payne, the towel are the ones I found yesterday. I only had a can of soup to help with scale... Attachments:

Here's a pic of my take from that rainy day with Payne. He had already taken his. Notice all the cool color variations? I found a few that were not blacks but these were just super dark charcoal greys! So amazing! I think that pic Payne posted with the blue and green bag were from the day when we went to "my spot" right Payne? And then the week before we both got two and half pounds...man! I can't keep track! I'm doing well for me! Attachments:
